Tech in the Time of Coronavirus: Tech Salon’s New Virtual Series
)
Technology Salons began in 2008 as an online forum where technology and development professionals and practitioners could share their insights and opinions on emerging trends in ICT, international development, digital trends, and everything in between. Over the years, Tech Salons have grown in size, topic range, and geography , becoming a staple means for the digital development community to participate in intimate and informal conversations.
Recently, as with the rest of the world, the ability for Technology Salons to convene in person has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to adapt to this disruption and utilize the technology we work with everyday, the Salons shifted to a virtual platform, launching a series called Tech in the Time of Coronavirus on April 16.

The first online session featured speakers from several development organizations who discussed past experiences implementing digital responses to global crises. While the world is living in an incredibly unique and challenging time, the use of digital technologies has kept us connected and allows the sector to share past initiatives’ lessons learned and best practices as they might relate to COVID-19, and how we can respond and recover.
